Brian, thanks for giving this Kenneth Field classic a fresh airing. The foreground at this location is now full of trees, somewhat obscuring this view, but there's still great vistas to be had of this 1849-built viaduct from the surrounding hillsides. Steam specials still pass this way occasionally. It's always an event worth traveling to witness when they do, as eastbound trains are always climbing hard before plunging into Standedge Tunnel and under the Pennines to Yorkshire.
