What exactly does Amtrak plan to do with these cars. Last I checked, there were only two heritage cars left, both were Budd 36-seat diners and both were, presumably, in service in Florida, and one of them was damaged by a fire.

These two train sets are going into service between Albany, NY and Montreal on the Amtrak Adirondack trains 68/69 for the next few weeks.

I suspect they're on lease for use during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Ridership is very high the week of Thanksgiving. I've seen the lines for Amtrak rides on the Detroit to Chicago line in Battle Creek. There are usually hundreds waiting.

On lease for the holiday period and to help Amtrak meet a shortfall as they have loaned equipment to New Jersey Transit after that company lost 67 cars in the Hurricane. Amtrak is loaning equipment to NJT that is certified for operations on Atmrak's Northeast Corridor. These cars are staying captive in the Montreal - Albany pool as of right now.

Sure will be NICE to have Silver, blue & yellow passenger trains with REAL WINDOWS back on the "D&H" again. Not to mention an actual DOME ! NEED to plan a trip VERY SOON. I assume this means passengers from NYC to points beyond Albany will have to change trains in Albany ?

There is a cross-platform train change at Albany-Renssalaer, yes.

Now if they could change power at Albany to a couple of PAs.

So hang on, five coaches and a dome sleeper/lounge/obs. for each set? No cafe or diner? Nice shot by the way.
