I wonder why the US railroads never adopted this type of switch engine design? It would have had the power with the smaller size for yard work. The 0-4-0, 0-6-0, etc's., had a propensity for jumping the track on sharp curves and switches where as the Mallets were considderably more stable. Proof positive that the US isn't always the leader in inovative transportation equipment.
