What happened to the E-5?
Posted by SantaKurt48 on September 23, 2012
There is nothing wrong with E-5. The Nebraska Zephyr can not run on it's own, without help of UP. The engine has no train control to run on it's own power.

No, the Zephyr was out for Excursions on the BNSF Mendota sub, they put the GP in front for Dispatch to track it, it runs on it's own power.

I think having a UP unit in front has something to do with UP's signaling on this line.

GP15-1- "Does this E unit make my paint look dirty?"

The E5 is not able to lead due to it not having functional ATC cab signals as well as ATS.

I herd UP is going to change it for a different system or something
