As much as I enjoyed watching Lehigh Valley operations, and hoped they would survive, their equipment and facilites ALWAYS had a certain degree of "grittiness" that spoke of relentless hard work with little time or money for anything that was not absolutely essential to keeping things moving.

Dig that SOIL with the emphasis on the OIL part...but then it's NJ, probably passed for "clean" dirt back then.
