Another one for the "There is a prototype for everything" file. Building one of these for a model railroad should prove to be fairly easy, and could be used as a shop goat to move equipment in and out of the shop. Simply use an outside third rail power pick up to supply current in place of the trolley pole.

The Milwaukee had an electric shop switcher similar to this that ran on an extension cord believe it or not.

I tried modeling the B&O with a model power porter and styrene but the extention cord sounds interesting.
