Excellent workhorses. Over 60 years old and still operational. I spent many a happy day watching these locos on coal trains around the Yorkshire coalfield.I always liked the way their bodies were chamfered in at the base. This made the body blend in with the bogies and fuel tanks. These locos must have paid for themselves many times over

Wonderful machines, one of the great success stories of the UK diesel scene. Superb visually, and what a fantastic sound they make when working hard. My favourite Class 37 memory is of the double-headed trains of loaded bogie oil tanks heading through Stenson Junction in the early 1990s - a treat for eyes and ears!
