I've never really understood how these power assemblies are installed and removed, and what parts are contained therein.

That is actually the cylinder with the head atop the power assembly without the piston. It weighs over three hundred pounds.

Thats a full power assembly. Piston, Piston carrier, Rod, liner and head. Roughly 400-450 lbs.
