I spy Heritage Task Force unit 1 in the background...these may not be NS heritage, but it'll move on NS, and it is "heritage"! Nice capture of the overall scene.

Fantastic! Congratulations to both the photo and the organization that performed the restoration of these wonderful American locomotives. (I have a model in HO that I still have today, I was a child). The restoration is perfect!

I think that this photo is the single best photo on this site.

It's nice that the MP&ES restored this locomotive. However, there are other photos of this locomotive on this site showing that it was originally a Yellowbonnet and not always a Warbonnet. Yes it did wear this scheme later in it's career with the AT&SF, but I personally believe they should have restored it to it's original and uniquely rare Yellowbonnet look, or even a Bluebonnet! It definitely would have been more different than the traditional and classic Warbonnet!

To Dana ... neither of these particular locos was ever painted in the Santa Fe yellowbonnet scheme for the simple reason that neither was ever owned by the AT&SF (as mentioned in the photo 'notes') The real ATSF #315 carried the warbonnet scheme for most of its life, before being repainted in the yellowbonnet scheme shortly before being converted into a CF7.
