R. D. Sharpless was one of very few, prolific, railroad photographers to chronicle the railroads of the south, and thankfully he expended lots of his color film on the beautiful, first-generation paint schemes on thee units of the era. So thanks to Ron Flanary for sharing these photos from his collection, of a photographer with a very inapt last name.

Still is amassing that the C&EI, L&N, NC&St, ACL and FEC were able to run the Dixie Flagler, Flyer and Limited in a manner that was top of the line. They were usually on time as well, even though they had to switch head end equipment. Thanks for the photo. Love it.
