Those were the days! Of course I had to miss them. Awesome power and awesome bridge. The Canyon Diablo bridgeis on my long list of places to visit.

I don't even have to look to see who shot these photos anymore. This had Danneman written all over the thumbnail image.

What a cracking shot. To get 8 locos all the same line and colour scheme must have been reward enough. The bridge is interesting...a blue paint scheme!!!.Doesn't look like any water has been down that gulley for a long time. Are those foundations of an earlier bridge in the foreground?

To answer Chris Marwood: This train was the first over the bridge after the westbound passage of 3751 on it’s Chicago to LA return trip in 1992. I did think that having an all yellow and blue consist was pretty neat. But, the blue you detect the bridge being is my fault. The bridge is really a weathered black. Call it a combination of scanning an old Kodachrome slide and not noticing the weird blue shift in Photoshop. Sorry about that. I’m sending a replacement scan shortly that will hopefully look better. Also, I doubt there is ever much water in the wash below, but during monsoon season in the Arizona desert, watch out! Those are indeed foundations in the foreground from an earlier Santa Fe bridge that once spanned the canyon, replaced by the bridge shown. Thanks, everyone for your nice comments!
