How common are those friction bearing trucks with roller bearings upgrades? I've never seen anything like that before.

They are pretty common on old equipment in Maintenance of Way use.

It always surprises me that CWR trains can negotiate curves.

Erick CWR's are able to flex some as long as they do not get kinked or twisted. The machines that lay the rials down are strong enough to straighten the rail out as it is being laid.
