I'm not sure I would enjoy driving one of the EMD50F's with those slab sides the only way you can go with them is short end front. If you were to run long end front then the engineer would have to run with his head stuck out the window. Me thinks that who ever designed this thing should be made to run it long end front for about 50 miles on a cold winter day. I guarantee the design would be quickly changed.

David, Canadian National ordered them that way. It was their idea. I doubt they ever ran them backwards on road trains. No different than an F-unit or E-unit in that regard.
