What's that MU hose next to the light for? I've never seen anything like that.

That's where the MU connections where located on these old F units. Someone must have just left the cable in.

Believe this is an F9A, not an F7A. Note the vertical orientation of the carbody filters, characteristic of F9 production.

3600-3700 series were all F7's from Wabash,N&W never bought any.
as for the F9 grills it could just be a retro fit as the body looks to be it good shape.
Most of them were assigned to the Canadian Division,although a few wandered system wide until the early 70's.

3717 was evidently painted soon after the N&W got it from the Wabash, since it is black. By 1966 N&W had adopted the Wabash blue.
