NS should be sued for cruelty to steam lovers to allow a sweet old girl as this to rust away to nothing. Why did they not donate it to some museum instead of allowing this to happen?

I'm not sure what NS had to do with her rusting away. This was one of the "lost engines of Roanoke" which was sent to a scrapper in Roanoke in the early 50s, but was never scrapped. There were several other engines on the same sidings for five decades, before finally being saved and donated to various museums for display. Here is a web site for more info --
