This is about as close to perfection as you can get! Great composition and can't go wrong with the 611!

Wow, John! What did you do, find another slide carousel? (Hope so!) This one is awesome. Such great clarity and color all perfectly composed. Thanks for sharing!

Better known as Cooper Tunnel & Trestle as well as being the quintessential photo location on the old N&W, and with so many varied angles & positions at the same site to shoot from. On the date of this photo it would be another four months until I even knew what 611 was and then things changed big time in my life. Today, the house in the foreground is long gone from a fire many years ago and many of the angles are overgrown as no steam has passed through this location since 1994.

Now that is just a wonderful shot, John!

Nicely composed! If he were still alive, I'll bet O.W. Link would have considered this view suitable for a black and white night shot!

The only thing that could make this image any better is, if the train were on the closer track! With all the details, color and shadow filling this frame, the eye is drawn straight to the locomotive, whose clean lines contrast perfectly with everything else. This is a print that should be hanging in the Roanoke Transportation Museum. Great job John.

Love it. Looks like a daylight O'Winston Link shot.
