Even with all evidence of the extra headlights removed, this former Southern Pacific GP35's identity is betrayed by the extra-wide windshield on the engineer's side of the locomotive's center line. The wider pane was the compromise made during rebuilding programs, when the road gave up their infatuation with the EMD extra-cost, optional, L-shaped engineer's window, introduced on the SD45.
