Do you think the long hood running will be a contributing factor? It sure creates a big blind spot.

It's very possible that running long hood forward contributed to this. However, it's just another reason why you should be CREEPING around that curve, being 6.28 territory.

Wow, this is a local one to me. Matter of fact, I work in the Argentine Yard and pass this area twice a day. R.J. Corman is very close to this area, so I imagine they made short work of this derailment.
Yes, the curve in this area is very sharp. I could imagine some signals will be going in very soon!
