This is SURELY a concept that should be adopted in the US. It would be great for medium-length, high truck density corridors such a perhaps Harrisburg, PA to Atlanta GA on Norfolk Southern's "Crescent Corridor" to relieve some of the truck traffic on I-81, or maybe Baltimore / Philadelphia to Providence, RI to relieve truck traffic on !-95. There are no doubt MANY other routes that would also work well.
