Re-powered they were, but they were built like Army Tanks and were just about indestructible. There was plenty of room under their large hoods for ease of re-powering and those heavy cast six axle trucks could handle bad track with ease. I would have given a good amount of money for that large brass bell !

I got a shot of one of those funky Baldwins at Pasco in 1970 or so.

As NP 525 this was the only example of this model they owned. It was the only six axled diesel on the NP system prior to the delivery of their U25Cs in 1964.
