As a safety professional, I just have to comment on (ladder cage) located on the rear end of CYMX #1. Personally I find it strange when the General Industry standard pertaining to fixed ladders mounted on or in structures, is applied to locomotives which are covered by the Federal Railway Administration standards which covers safety standards like locomotive handrails, guard rails , and grab irons. The mining industry should worry more about the EPA than about OSHA which actually does not inspect mining operations. Thanks for your posting Steven.

Cool shot. The mining industry has to deal with OSHA's much more dubious sibling MSHA which is notorious for fining companies on very miniscule things in the name of safety. Perhaps the ladder cage on this unit was put there in response to a fine levied by a mine inspector as this could possibly, technically be considered a mine railroad if I am not mistaken. It's nice to see more shots of this interesting railroad posted thanks for sharing!
