In as far as brute muscle this unit would look at home next to a GG-1 or even a UP Turbine but only in it's massiveness, not in it's character nor looks. Nice catch, Craig.

Cool looking machine, I would guess to save weight they couldn't make it a double cab.

The single cab arrangement on these (and their twins on AMT in Montreal,) is adequate as the need for a double cab locomotive is negated by all NJT (and AMT) trains being push-pull consists.

Does anyone know why NJT didn't just opt to use the LIRR 3rd rail system already installed in Penn Station? I have been wondering about this ever since the invitation to bid went out on these monsters.
