James, you couldn't have posed this any better if you owned the railroad! Also, it's shocking to be reminded that the UP had all three E units way back in 1993. Yet another great image.

Your shot really "sells" it. No wonder UP kept the "Butte Special" running right up till "A-Day." If they had a dome car on that train, who knows?

Ellis--2/3rd of that Butte Special was pretty dull scenery. And it ran at night--I think a 12 hour schedule from Butte to SLC, departing at each end at 730pm, arriving 730am.

1993 you say. I had the picture pegged for the early 1960's before reading the actual date it was taken. All in all,WOW!
