I was stationed in Augsburg during the middle 70's and of course rode the DB everywhere I could. On the way to Amsterdam, the train stopped an over 2 or 3 tracks was a Pacific steam locomotive. I almost got off the train, but was traveling with friends and did not want to get split up. I also Volksmarch on Sat/Sundays and would travel to many small towns that had steam powered trains pass thru. Only if I could do it all over again, Thanks for the memories.

Nice series of German steam power photos from the late 60's and early 70's. It's definitely neat to see steam power in regular operation when American steam power had long since been retired. Sure wish I got to go to school by steam powered trains. If I did, I would be one of the students now in their late forties mentioned in your remarks/comments.
