When you look at the DD's in action they to make perfect sense. Big HP in modular units with a small crew. Why did they fail to catch on? Great shot by the way. Very few DD35 pictures around.

Hard riding 4 axle trucks beating up the track and the high maintenance cost of two primer movers per unit. I'd say they are less modular than two GP35's since you're stuck with one big monster that can't be split up when needed.

Pros: 5000HP and only one cab so less cost per HP
Cons: If one of the prime movers fails, all 5000 HP are out of commission until it's fixed. Plus less flexibility than with 3000 HP units.

The lettering under the cab window confirms that reliability will not be a problem! "Dependable Transportation"
