Fabulous, Eric! I love the colors you captured. How far up Storm King did you have to hike to find this dramatic vantage point?

Yours of Bannerman's Island are quite common. You can go by boat from Newburgh or Beacon. We did it two years ago,

I took a photo from this very same angle a few years back, but it didn't quite turn out as well as I wanted. I've been wanting to re-shoot the next time I go down there, but I gotta say that this turned out much better than anything that I had envisioned. You knocked this one out of the park.

David - if it's shot from where I think, there's no hiking involved... it's a lookout point right off route 218. Great vantage points all around, and some fantastic angles to be had of trains on both sides of the river.

Railroad castle on that island!

The shot was taken from the road a bit north of the small pull-off area on Route 218, Storm King Highway. This road is closed from late fall and through the winter. Bannerman Island tours are available through various Trust sanctioned sites, but access is controlled and limited. It's a beautiful area to explore and shot!
