There is lots of collision protection here, and the crew has to "call" the signal aspects verbally as was done on steam power. The first car is hauling a piece of M of W equipment that way used by many railroads. It is a Pettybone Swing Loader, that was very useful in that it had four wheel drive and four wheel steering. Another very useful feature was that it's loader arm and bucket could swing to either side ninety degrees to dump the bucket. When the bucket was not being used the swing arm could be used lift with a chain or lifting sling to move heavy track parts. Thanks for the history lesson Tom.
