I believe those remnants of decals on either side of the nose herald, are from Burlington's 100th Birthday celebration, which also resulted in their excursion 4-8-4 being painted overall gold.

My mother and my grandma saw this train in 1963 when it ran in the Twin Cities metro area. They loaded at the St. Paul union depot and rode all the way to Savanna, IL.
