Eric... Amazing photo and remarks! It's hard to believe this old caboose looks so good after all these years and my guess is it was already sitting on the ground when the last train left Rhyolite. I have to ask if it was safe to walk inside, and if so, can you tell us what you saw? Thanks for sharing this long-forgotten gem with us!

Both ends of the car had signs reading "Do Not Enter," so I didn't go inside. I did look through the doorways and windows, however. The inside was all painted the turquoise color you can see in the picture, and was empty except for a little wood debris and the rusted remains of a spring mattress frame under the cupola.
