I preferred them before the "Q-Boat" scheme.The name of the railroad was Conrail, not "Conrail Quality." If they wanted to add some goofy slogan ala AP, they could have added that separately. I always thought the "Conrail Quality" scheme was a bit of a step in the wrong direction compared with the "straight" Conrail scheme with the white striping. Check a shot of the first order of C40-8W's to see the version I'm talking about. I also thought when those safety cab units came out that they should have used a much larger font for the nose lettering, to take advantage of all that extra space. Those hood unit sized letters make it seem like they're ashamed of their company name, which shouldn't have been the case by the time these locomotives were hitting the rails.

Sorry that's "UP" not "AP." Don't know how that happened, I'm pretty sure I didn't get those letters mixed up on the keyboard!
