Nice picture Craig! As a railfan I can appreciate the foreground, as a meteorologist, I can appreciate the background....but it's not called a "moon dog", it's actually a lunar halo. However, there are "sun dogs"....bright spots in the clouds to the left and or right of the sun when the sun is low on the horizon.

Sweet shot in general, great view of the constellation Orion, and are those the Pleiades down and to the right from the moon? I can see more of them here than I can with my (weakening) naked eye!
