Of note in this image, under the signal bridge in the background, is one of the two ex-New Haven round-end, parlor-lounge-observation cars built for the Merchants Limited. The duo are the only observation cars ever built (albeit to the postwar, stainless-steel clad design,) with the "American Flyer" style carbody contours. Diaphragms were added to the car's rear ends early in their careers to permit their use midtrain.
