I like it!. I visited that fair land a few times in the 70s and came to love it. My #1 priority as a place to return to. I wonder if I could get a 20 year visa. It seems the trains have gotten considerably larger since the days of the old Mitsubishi B-B-B units.

Very much so and they plan to get longer. The coal trains down south have plans to go from 35 - 40 coal wagons up through the Otira tunnel. And as horsepower and track quality increases the freights around the place will increase as well.

Great shot Marty - there is certainly so much going on around the KiwiRail network of late, and as Sid made mention of above, things are certainly far removed from the days of the Mitsubishi DJ class hauling 1/2 dozen 4 wheel cars around. Keep up with the great photos - loving them all!
