I had to do a double take when I saw this 'cause I thought it was Canal Street and I was about to ask you when you took a trip to NOLA. I really enjoyed the history lesson on the car, but I beg to differ on one of your points, however, Jim. Desire Street is most assuredely not in the French Quarter. It actually runs North to South in the Upper 9th Ward between Florida Ave. and Chartres St. hard by the Mississippi River in the Bywater neighborhood. Norfolk Southern's Oliver Yard (where I worked nights for a year) basically parallels Desire St. five blocks to the east so I know the area quite intimately.
