Will the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railway ever run steam again? :S :(

Matt, no they won't. The CO&E sold that unit years ago and the last I heard it was on display somewhere in Iowa

Actually, this Engine is still on the CO&E awaiting full funding to restore to operation. It was in service until a few years ago when it went down for the mandatory rebuild. The Engine you're thinking of, was the 2-8-0 #17 that is now on display in Boone, Iowa.

Actually, this engine is not still on CO&E, it is now located at Jackson Missouri on the St Louis Iron Mountain tourist operation, and has been out of service for many years. CO&E may someday have another steamer on the property, in relation to their newfound passenger success of the last 2 years.

I've seen a photo of #17 on Jeff Terry's website. She's in really bad shape. #17 should have a reunion with #5 and be sold the the St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern in Jackson, Mo.

This isn't on the IC branch to Marion, but likely at Du Quoin.
