Mijack is a full partner in the Kansas City Southern rail and port operation that runs between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. With some container ships becoming to large to use the locks, the cargo is transported between the ports by container trains which run loaded in both directions. What this results in is each ship when reloaded returning to it's next port of call without having to go through "The Big Ditch". Pairs of ships simply swapping most of their cago via the rail land bridge. Cruse ship passengers have the ability to ride from port to port on passenger trains provided by the rail line after such service was requested from the Government of Panama. Both of the port facilities were totally modernized as part of the project. With Mijack supplying the container transfer equipment.
