Nice photo i like seeing what this area use to look like, I started working for the URR a few months ago and its hard to imagine what the area looked like when it was booming compared to now. This area is currently being revitalized and what remains of the blast furnaces and mills underground is being dug up and shipped out.

James, this is an interesting story. I remember riding by the works in a P&LE hy-rail in 1961. I like the capture of the Conrail freight with the remains of the furnace in the background. I am glad RP.net screeners allowed this picture even though it has a bad angle feature that normally puts it in the rejection category. SD50s were poor performers yet that had a great sound when revving up.
