The front-mounted radiator on this Alco, makes it either an S-5 (800 h.p.) or S-6 (900 h.p.) model, which were powered by 251-series engines instead of the 244-series of the S-1 through S-4 series. Alco's last switcher model, the T-6 rated at 1000 h.p., reverted to side-mounted radiators, and featured a notched nose with numberboards similar to the DL700 road switcher.
