SR 124 was Mr. Presson's (SR ACMO in this era) train. He watched its progress like a hawk. Many were the a--eatings I received as a result of locomotive failures on this train. These were somewhat inevitable in that power for 124 always came straight off the maintenance line at Chattanooga Diesel Shop. Newly installed traction motors, power contactors, etc. would often result in failures on the first trip out of the shop. This train usually ran "Radio" (DPU in today's parlance), however this date the radio car (RCC) is tucked in behind the head end power. One of my first tasks each morning was to locate a white face (Note black on white number boards.) Locotrol master unit for Mr. Presson's train. This was not always a simple job as the few masters we had were often scattered over the whole system.

Ah, nothing beats taking a regular chewing for things completely out of your control. Just remember that it all came down the mountain and gathered momemtum from one subordinate to the next one in line!

Not for too long for these front numberboards and the paint job itself….It was given my favorite numberboards and repainted into NS in 1987, but retained it’s rear numberboards
