The locomotive model here is C630, (note the Hi-Ad trucks) and the M-K units were the former Alco demonstrators of the model. The trio was eventually sold for futher service in Australia.

Nice to see an ALCO on the Clinchfield. However if you look close you'll see it's a C636 not a C628.

I never knew MKM had these. Good looking loco, but I have a question. It looks like a C636, did MKM rebuild this into a C628 as you call this engine? Great photo.

Possibly the coolest catch I've seen on RP... never knew about these engines... but I recall MK rebuilds later in the decade wearing that paint scheme.

Great shot Tom, MK5401 is indeed an Alco C636 and was Alco demonstrator 636-1. MK bought all 3 Alco C636 demos
636-1 thru 636-3. They were sold to Cartier Mining.
