Nice photo. I don't understand why they just don't aim that conveyer belt into a hopper car in front of them and keep the grounds cleaner.

I agree with Chris on using a hopper car. It looks like quite a bit coming off the end of the conveyor & over time it will make quite a pile along the right of way.

There sure is a lot of taconite in between the rails. Apparently, the railroad must feel that tackonite does not make good road bed material and that it is cheaper to discard the material rather than to reclaim it. When I was a kid, we used the 'extra' tackonite pellets with a sling shot my friend had. They make good shooting material.
