Sorry to hear about the conductor. At least he escaped with his life and didn't lose more than an arm. But still that must've been one nasty wreck!

I have one question, why is this engine still in this condition some two years after the wreck?

Brian probably its still in this condition because it has not been released from the insurance company or possibly the FRA. It could have a bent frame issue or broken motor mounts anybodies guess!

Don't tell me - a distracted crew member of one of the trains didn't even see the signal, or if he did - it didn't even register with him. Not that I am a saint and never use a cell phone while driving.

I'm not positive, but I believe this is the incident when the Metro operator was using his cell phone prior to the incident...which led to the FRA ban on cell phone usage while on a train.
