There's more to No. 84 here than meets the eye... E-units were a rarity on Santa Fe, all the more so because all of them were rebuilds. No. 84 was rebuilt in 1953 from original slant-nosed E-1 No. 6, delivered in 1938 to power one of the two original, five-car "El Capitan" streamliners. Great photo!
