Neat stuff, but what's the deal with all the rail in between the gauge?

The extra rail in between the track in question was the track department's answer to a leaning problem that was evident in the track a number of years ago. Believe it or not, the extra rail actually helped seat one side of the the track down a little more into the ballast straightening it out. There are a few additional tracks in the "Old Yard" at Hobart that utilize this technique. - Still a number of 1930s-1940s date nails hiding in there too.
