Those early trains are so cool.

In France, you'd never see such a train running on a main line - or even on a short line. The railroad mid-level "decision-makers" are so zealous about regulations, certification, authorizations, safety and all the bureaucracy, that this would most probably be impossible, unless ordered from the highest level of the SNCF and RFF. Moreover, during these celebrations of the 150 years of railways in the Jura region, the Swiss had a lot of historic trains running, plus a nice exhibition, while the French were pathetic, almost absent. No steam engine coming from Switzerland was allowed to enter France on its own, etc.

Fabulous photo! How lucky you were to see such a historic collection in operation. Thanks for sharing this gem of a photo.
