This makes perfect sense. You're going to have to close at least 2 tracks at a time to replace them one at a time. Just do them all at once making a long delay as short as possible.

I'm sure those CPL's were eyeballing that equipment to make sure they weren't moving anywhere anytime soon. ;-)

Very neat... I work for CN Rail, and we do the same thing (taking the switch out, back in, and dumping stone) in 4 hours for 1 switch, and 10 guys. The only equipment is a excavator, and backhoe (backhoe mainly for lifting the switch motor).

That is quite an operation to see. Sundays on CSX are dead anyways so they picked a good day for it.
