I'm pretty well amazed by this process. Almost seems like that would possibly damage the rear truck or maybe even the frame. That a lot of weight being transferred to a small area.

Marty, that's our "snow jet" used to melt the snow and ice around the 70+ switches we have at the yard. In a few short months it will be back at work when the lake effect storms hit. As for damaging the unit by doing this, most locomotives these days are designed to handle this kind of lift. The alternative is to burn and cut the frozen gears out, a hard process that destroys more than it saves. Roger

It looks like it could also use a trip to the paint shop. That ones starting to look just a little bit rough.
