Maybe some useful infromation for people not familiar with Russia: What you see here is an iron ore pit located about 50 mi from the Ukrainian border. It is one of the largest iron ore deposit in the world, which was discovered due to observed misindication of magnetic compass needles in the area. What you see on the picture is a so called 'Industrial Traction Unit' consisting of a locmotive fix connected to two open wagons with powered axles. Like with a slug the power is taken from the locomotive with cables. The locomotive can operate optional either by over head wire or a buil-in prime mover.
