Could you list for us the units, especially the last one?

I'd also like to know more about these Locomotives please. The 3rd & 4th mostly for me.

The 3rd and 4th units were EMD rebuilds and IRRC the 5th and 6th units were CAT re-engined units and the last one is a mystery to me also. I'm still scanning my slide collection and if I find a shot of these units I'll let you know what they are. Thanks. Dan Tracy

The 3rd unit is EMD SD40-3MPR 2000. Upgraded from an SD40 by VMV, it was intended to demonstrate how an older unit could be upgraded with modern equipment. The unit was equipped with EM2000 microprocessor controls (hence the Dash 3) and had its Flexicoil trucks swapped for HT-C trucks. The 4th unit is EMD 7002, one of the 3 EMD SD70M Demonstrators. The 5th unit appears to be a recently repainted BN SD40-2, likely BN 7870, which was a test unit equipped with Dash 3 electronics done in cooperation between BN & VMV. It would later have slug hookup & hump controls installed in it by VMV (in error, as they were to have been installed on BN 6261) and become an SD42P. The 6th unit is an SD38P, one of seven overhauled & modified for use as slug mother units by VMV from CSXT & SOU SD35s. Three ex-SLSF SD38-2s were also converted into SD38Ps, along with an SD40-2, which became an SD42P. The 7th unit is a TEBC6, a Slug (or Tractive Effort Booster...hence the "TEB") rebuilt from an SD9 by VMV. BN had 11 such units rebuilt from SD9s, which were mated to SD38P mother units. These 11 'pairs' were assigned to hump yards around the BN system.
