This is actually a C424.

There is quite a story behind this beast. It was built for NdeM, but the financing was delayed. Alco, in the meantime, had a customer (Wabash) that was getting itchy over some rebuilt Fairbanks-Morse Train Masters (H24-66) ALCO was trying to repower with 16/251Cs. This sounded like a great idea, but even before they left Schenectady, the headaches began for both ALCO and the Wabash. Months late on the rebuilt Train Masters project, ALCO leased the orphan C424s to Wabash. They were on lease until the Train Masters were ready. Since they were set up with everything en espanoil (Spanish), they were used as trailing units only, and given numbers B900-B905 to reflect this. One of them was involved in a major wreck and scrapped right before the Wabash was leased by the Norfolk & Western (B902). Wabash's C425s were delivered late, which is why the C424s remained on Wabash even after the repowered Train Masters arrived on the Wabash. N&W bought out the lease and there we are.
